Sun sign compatibility compares two people by the element, modality and ruling planet of their Sun signs and by the angle between the signs on the zodiac wheel. It is one layer of a chart, and a thin one: a fuller comparison, which astrologers call synastry, also looks at the Moon, Venus, Mars and Rising signs of both people.

These guides therefore give no percentages and no verdicts. No tradition of astrology says two people are doomed or destined because of their Sun signs. What the signs can offer is a vocabulary for how two temperaments tend to meet: where they click, where they rub, and what helps.
